China Supplier Risk Assessment

Know who you are dealing with — before you send a deposit, share a design, or place an order.

Who This Service Is For

  • Considering a Chinese manufacturer for the first time
  • Preparing to pay a deposit or place a substantial order
  • Sourcing a custom product or developing a private-label brand
  • Comparing several suppliers that appear similar on price
  • Concerned about inconsistent information, unclear company details, or unusual payment requests
  • Reviewing an existing supplier before expanding the relationship

What We Check

Entity confirmationRegistered Chinese legal name, Unified Social Credit Code, registration status, registered address
Business scopeManufacturing vs. trading classification — is your "manufacturer" actually a factory or a middleman?
Financial baselineRegistered capital, paid-in status, annual report compliance
Litigation screenCourt judgments, enforcement cases, administrative penalties
Chop & executionChop name verification, signatory authority, proper execution requirements
Red flagsAbnormal-operation status, revoked licences, sanctions, related-party risk

Why the "Operating Name" Is Not Enough

The name on your supplier's business card and website is frequently not their registered legal name. A supplier operating as "Quality Bags Co." may be registered as "Tianjin Junyi Premium Trading Co., Ltd." — a trading company with no manufacturing licence. Your contract must bind the registered entity, not the brand name.

Even more importantly: if you sign an NNN agreement with a trading company, your confidential information may flow to the actual factory — an entity that never signed your agreement and has no contractual obligation to you.

What This Service Is Not

The Snapshot is a preliminary assessment — not a comprehensive due diligence investigation, and not a guarantee against fraud, non-performance, defects, insolvency, or future disputes. Information may be incomplete, outdated, or difficult to independently verify. We define the scope before beginning and explain significant limitations that affect the findings. A supplier may also change its conduct after the review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I verify a supplier myself for free?
Partially. Two key sources are free: gsxt.gov.cn (entity registration) and wenshu.court.gov.cn (court judgments). However, interpreting the results — particularly business scope analysis, litigation patterns, and related-party identification — requires experience with Chinese corporate records.
My supplier says they own the factory. How do I verify?
Ask for the factory's business licence and compare the entity name with the supplier's. If they are different entities, verify the corporate relationship on gsxt.gov.cn — if the legal representatives and shareholding structures differ, they are likely separate entities.
Should I do the assessment before or after signing an NNN?
Before, if possible — you need to know which entity to contract with. The NNN agreement must bind the entity that will actually receive your confidential information, and the assessment tells you who that is.
Can you conduct an on-site factory inspection?
On-site audit coordination is available as a separate engagement. We can also coordinate with third-party inspection companies (SGS, BV, QIMA).
How long does it take?
A Snapshot is delivered within 48 hours. Standard due diligence takes 3–5 business days.
